Problem & challenge
During preparation for plug and abandonment, gas bubbling was observed at the 9-5/8" casing A-annulus, preventing the planned casing-cut and surface cement-plug sequence.
Objective
- Isolate the gas source by injecting resin through casing perforations.
- Reduce the leak sufficiently to enable the next P&A operation.
Solution
After gator perforation and bridge-plug installation, injectivity testing recorded 0.19 bbl in 15 minutes at 500 psi. Hyperseal placed and squeezed 1 bbl of 9.3 ppg resin through drill pipe into the perforated zone at approximately 1,500 m MD.
Result
One barrel of resin was successfully squeezed. The treatment reduced circulation rate, pressure build-up rate and leak-off rate, supporting the next PWC operation.
