Saint Joseph dual production packer repair

Problem & challenge
A 9-5/8" x 3-1/2" production packer at 2,021 ft was leaking. Scanwell leak rate was 13.5 scf/min. Crane limitation required a small pumping unit.
Objective
- Cure the packer leak and return the well to production.
Solution
Five barrels of Pressure Activated Sealant were displaced into the annulus and squeezed through the packer leak. More than 50 laboratory and system-integration tests were performed, covering compatibility, fall-rate, sealing, pumpability, spacer and crude/sealant compatibility.
Result
The packer held pressure after the leak was cured, with zero pressure increase in the A-annulus. The well was returned online after having been shut in for more than three years.

The control-line leak was sealed after positive and negative pressure testing. Gas blowout on bleed-off was eliminated, with flowtube movement and tubing inflow testing supporting reinstatement of control-line and TRSV functionality.
